Haig Yazdjian was born by Armenian parents in Syria, and has been living in
Greece since 1980. While living in Greece, he discovered the enchanting
spirit of Oriental music, and took up the oud as the means to express his
inner thoughts in the world of music. Soon, he became extremely famous as an
oud soloist and a virtuoso, who could seduce his audience through the
intimate touch of his vocals. In 1994, he participated in a collection
album, entitled “THE OUD”. Soon afterwards, his first album “Talar”
(Evergreen) was released, and since then he has been regarded as one of the
most talented and most promising composers of his time. “Talar” is
remarkable for the unique way the composer used to combine the diverse
elements of the Eastern Mediterranean music traditions, inspired by his
belief that tradition as a living creative force.
Two years later followed the release of his second solo album “Garin”, and
the CD single “Gift”, which were highly acclaimed by both audiences and
critics.
In summer 2000, the album containing the music he composed about the play
“Beast on the Moon” presented in Athens during 1999-2000 was released. This
was an album that signaled a new trend in his musical wanderings. In 2001,
the album ”Yeraz", was released, a reflection of a dream world for listeners
with the same sensitivities.
